Introduction
Hello Lunarians!
Work has continued on implementing the remaining systems related to our main gameplay loop. Everything we have been working on lately has been geared toward making sure our next alpha test is as robust and full of features as possible.
Originally we were aiming for around this time to start bringing in more alpha testers, but progress has been a bit slower than originally anticipated. We are aiming for a possible summer alpha test, but it may be later this year depending on how progress shapes up the next few months.
We will keep everyone updated as to where we are progress wise. Please be sure to follow along development in our discord. I post behind the scenes screenshots and videos in there often. I also ask for feedback from our community frequently.
All of that being said, I am excited to bring you our next development blog where we will go over progress made on our combat skills!
Combat Skills
A lot of work has been completed on our skilling system. Skills will be divided into two different types which are Combat Skills and Trade Skills.
Combat skills will consist of.. well skills related to combat. These will be what define each of our four classes. Initially there will be two skill trees per class with room for possibly a third in the future as time progresses.
We have started to populate each of the skill trees in game with the skills that we have planned for each of our classes. Below are just some of the skills planned for our Warrior and Mage class.
A preview of a few different weapon types and the fireball skill utilized in combat.
Combat Masteries
We made the decision that instead of a traditional skills that you assign points in to level your specific weapon damage, you will now level the different weapon types through use. Each of our weapons now has an associated combat mastery that will level up through use.
This will allow for you to switch out weapons as you see fit and prevent a character from getting locked in to using any specific weapon type.
Trade Skills
We have also begun implementation of our first trade skills. We are focusing on simple actions such as gathering for our foraging system, or mining an ore node.
We have many trade skills planned, some of which will be more involved. We have even added a very simple tab for keeping track of trade skill experience. Please note that in our preview screenshot, our official trade skills are not solidified and are subject to change.
Feel free to chime in on discord if you have any suggestions for which trade skills you would think would be great in game 🙂

Shop System
Work has all been continuing on a shop system so players can purchase and sell items. There will be merchants scattered around the game world similar to other role playing games.
Each merchant will have different items that they are selling. You can also sell the items you have looted from monsters to these merchants also.
We have the basis for this system mostly implemented, but still have to polish the system and test it thoroughly.
Coming Soon
There is quite a lot to work on over the next few months but I just want to outline a few of the different aspects of the game that we will be focusing on to make sure our alpha is as feature rich as possible.
- Monster Progression: We are working on populating monsters in increasing difficulty in our starting areas and the adjacent maps. This will allow us to receive valuable feedback on how progression feels during our alpha test.
- NPC Placement: We will continue to populate our maps with various NPC’s for you to engage with. Some of these will offer story insight and some will offer quests for you to complete. We want our game world to feel as lively as possible.
- Additional Combat Skills: We are continuing work with implementation for each of the various combat skills that we plan for each of the classes. Our main goal is for each of the classes to feel unique so that you are encouraged to try out more than one character.
- Trade Skills: We plan on adding 3 of our trade skills first in preparation for the alpha. Foraging, Mining, as well as Woodcutting. These will be skills that are primarily gathering that can be used for crafting or as part of our future trade skills.
I want to thank you all for your patience as always. Game development is quite the journey and I enjoy sharing the progress with our community. I look forward to seeing everyone in game!
